Clear cache in VocaLingo: what it removes and when it helps

Clear cache removes temporary files and saved copies of media from the phone. Your account, history, voices and tokens stay, they are stored on the server.

Clearing the cache is worth trying when a video or audio won't play, a screen shows something outdated, or VocaLingo takes up a lot of space on the phone.

How to clear the cache

  1. Open the Settings tab and scroll to the very bottom.

  2. Under the Logout button, tap the small Clear cache link.

  3. Confirm in the "Clear cache?" dialog.

  4. Wait for "Cache cleared".

Be careful not to tap Delete Account, which is right below.

What is removed and what stays

Removed from the phoneStays

Temporary files from playback and video compression

Your account and sign-in

Files you shared into VocaLingo from other apps

History of all tools and chats

Saved copies of videos, audio and images the app downloaded earlier

Voices in My Voices

Files of older app updates (the current version stays)

Token balance and Premium

Saved examples from "See how it works"

Settings: language, theme, tab order

A file that is playing at the moment is not deleted. After clearing, results open a little slower the first time, because the app downloads them again.

Clearing the cache in the web version

At web.vocalingo.app, the Clear cache link has almost nothing to remove: the browser keeps its own cache. To refresh the page from scratch, clear the site data in your browser settings. You will need to sign in again after that.

If clearing the cache didn't help

If you see "Failed to clear cache.", restart the app and try again. If playback still fails, the problem is likely with the file itself: see file format not supported or file too large, or contact support with the name of the tool and what happens.
