VocaLingo on the web, iOS and Android: what's different

One account works everywhere with the same balance and history. The apps add the share menu, camera recording and Siri; the web version saves results with Download.

Tools, chat, prices and your account are the same on every platform. The differences are in how files get into the app, how results are saved and how you pay.

What stays the same on every device

Sign in with the same email, Google or Apple account, and the balance, history of every tool, chats, My Voices and Premium are the same on the web and in the apps. Data is stored in the account, so switching phones doesn't lose anything. The only exception is a guest: a guest account isn't linked to an email, so link one first, see how to create an account.

How sharing from other apps works

On iOS and Android, VocaLingo appears in the share menu of other apps. The general VocaLingo item opens a choice of suitable tools; the items like Translate Audio in VocaLingo, Translate Video in VocaLingo or Add Captions in VocaLingo open that tool right away. Sharing works once you have signed in or started as a guest. On the web there is no share menu: save the file and choose it in the tool. Step by step: how to share audio from messengers.

How payment differs

In the iOS and Android apps, tokens and Premium are bought through the App Store or Google Play. On the web, you pay by card. Prices of some token packs differ between the App Store, Google Play and the web.

Tokens and Premium belong to the account, so a subscription bought on an iPhone also works on Android and the web. Manage or cancel it where you bought it: see how to cancel a subscription and how to buy tokens.

How VocaLingo updates

New features usually reach the iOS and Android apps without a store update. When an update is ready, an Update button with a progress ring appears in the top right of the Tools tab instead of the token badge; some updates install by themselves and restart the app. Larger changes come as a new version in the App Store and Google Play. The web version has no update button: reload the page to get the latest version.

How notifications work on each platform

VocaLingo sends a notification when a long task is ready: Video Translation, Add Captions, Video to Text and downloads. Turn notifications on in Settings, Notifications. On the web they work only at web.vocalingo.app. On iOS 16.2 or later with app version 1.74 or later, the progress of these tasks is shown in a Live Activity, and in that case no separate push arrives.
