Do new users get free tokens?
There is no welcome bonus: a new account starts with 0 tokens. Free tokens come from a friend's promo code, a store review or the Tell about VocaLingo task.

This applies to every sign-in method (email, Google, Apple) and to guest mode. If you have read about 30 welcome tokens somewhere, that offer is no longer active.
How to get tokens for free
All free rewards are on one screen: Settings, then Free Tokens in the Balance card. Entering a promo code, the review reward and the task need a full account (email, Google or Apple), so they do not work in guest mode.

Enter a friend's promo code
If a friend shared their promo code, enter it in Have a promo code? on the Free Tokens screen and tap Activate. You get 50 tokens right away, and your friend gets 100. The field is shown only during the first 30 days after you sign up and disappears after one activation. Rules and errors are in Referral program.
Leave a store review
The review reward appears at the top of the Free Tokens screen in the iPhone and Android app.
Tap Leave a review. VocaLingo opens its page in the App Store or Google Play.
Leave a rating and come back to the app.
Tap I left a review. The app shows "50 tokens added. Thank you!"
The reward is given once per account, and after that the block disappears. On web.vocalingo.app this reward is not shown.
Task "Tell about VocaLingo"
Publish a short video, post or article that mentions VocaLingo and send its public link in the task on the Free Tokens screen. The post is checked by a person. Keep it public for 24 hours: after that you get 1 month of Premium and 1,000 tokens.
One reward per month per person. There is also a daily limit for all users: when it is reached, the app says "Daily reward limit reached. Try tomorrow".
Reposts, quotes and copies of the same post are not accepted.
If the post is removed before 24 hours pass, the task becomes unavailable for your account.
If you already have Premium, the free month is added after your current paid period.
What you can try without tokens
The onboarding tour "Your voice in 10 languages" records your voice and lets you hear it in other languages for free. The voice from the tour is saved to My Voices at no cost. You can replay the tour from Settings with Take the tour again. Downloading a video or its audio with Download Video is also free in the app.
Frequently asked questions
I signed up with a friend's link but got no tokens
Tokens come only after the promo code is activated. Open Settings, then Free Tokens, enter the code in Have a promo code? and tap Activate. This works during the first 30 days after sign-up.
Do free tokens expire?
No. Tokens from promo codes, reviews and tasks stay on your balance until you spend them. Only tokens that come with a Premium subscription expire at the end of the period.
