Voice mode in Chat: how to talk to the AI out loud

Voice mode is a live conversation: you speak, the AI answers out loud right away, and both sides of the conversation are saved as text in the same chat. It suits language practice, questions on the go and moments when typing is inconvenient.

How to start voice mode

1. Open the Chat tab. The message field must be empty and no files attached: only then the Voice mode button with a wave icon appears to the right of the field.

2. Tap Voice mode. The first time, allow access to the microphone.

3. Wait until the status at the top changes from “Connecting...” to “Listening...”.

4. Speak. When you pause, the AI answers by voice.

5. To finish, tap End voice mode (the hang-up button in the bar at the top).

The button with the microphone next to the field is a different feature: dictation. Hold it, speak, and your words appear in the message field as text that you can edit before sending.

What the statuses mean

The microphone button in the same bar mutes you without ending the session: useful when someone nearby is talking.

How to interrupt the AI

Start talking while the AI is answering. It stops and listens to you. There is no need to wait for the end of a long answer.

What the AI can do in voice mode

In voice mode the AI searches the web, runs deep research, reads links, remembers facts about you, sets reminders and finds places. It also knows the last 20 messages of the chat, so you can start by text and continue by voice.

Voice mode does not draw pictures and does not accept files. Voice mode always works on its own voice model: the model selected in the picker does not affect it.

How long a session lasts and how much it costs

One voice session lasts up to 60 minutes. Two minutes before the end the app warns: “Voice mode will end in 2 minutes”. After that, start voice mode again; the conversation continues in the same chat.

Voice mode is paid with tokens according to how much speech the AI hears and says. As in the text chat, fractions of a token add up and are charged as whole tokens. You need a positive balance to start.

If voice mode does not work

• “Microphone is not receiving audio. Please try again.”: another app may be using the microphone, or the headphones are disconnected. Close the other app and start again. If the app has no access to the microphone, see microphone or camera access denied.

• The connection keeps dropping: voice mode needs a stable internet connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and tap Reconnect.
