My Numbers: which number your AI calls come from
Calls go out from the shared VocaLingo number by default, no setup needed. Verify your own number by SMS if the other person should see it.

The list of numbers lives in AI Calls: open AI Calls on the Tools tab, go to the Settings tab at the bottom and tap My Numbers.
The shared VocaLingo number
Every account has the shared VocaLingo number +1 978 467 0509 with the VocaLingo badge. It works without verification and can't be removed, so you can make AI Calls right after signing in.
The other person sees this US number when you call. They can't call you back on it: anyone who dials it hears a short recorded message in English saying the number only makes outgoing calls. If the other person needs to call you back, verify your own number.
Why verify your own number
The other person sees a number they know and is more likely to answer.
They can call you back. The callback reaches your phone as a regular call, outside VocaLingo and without translation.
Verification is optional. Without it, everything in AI Calls works the same way.
How to verify your number
In My Numbers, tap + in the top right corner.
Pick the country and enter your phone number. Under the field you see the price of the SMS code in tokens.
Tap Send code.
Enter the 5-digit code from the SMS. It is checked as soon as you type the last digit, or tap Confirm.
If the SMS doesn't arrive, tap Didn't get the SMS? Call me instead: you get a call that reads out the code. To fix a typo in the number, tap Change number.
How much verification costs

If the balance is too low, you see "Not enough tokens to send SMS" or "Not enough tokens to confirm" with the amount you need. Top up in how to buy tokens.
How to choose the number for a call
Tap the star next to your number in My Numbers to make it the default. Before each call you can still switch the number in the Call from number block of the Call Mode sheet. The shared number is always on that list.
How to remove a number
Tap the trash icon next to your number and confirm. The app warns "Are you sure? The number will be released and cannot be recovered." To use the same number again later, you will need to verify it again and pay for the code.
Can I get a virtual or second number
No. VocaLingo doesn't sell virtual numbers, and the app has no way to receive calls or SMS. You can call from the shared number or from your own verified number only. So VocaLingo can't give you a number for registering WhatsApp, Telegram or other services.
If verification fails
"Invalid phone number. Please include your country code." Check the country you picked and the number of digits.
"SMS verification is not available for this country yet. Please try a number from another country." Your country isn't supported for verification. Call from the shared number instead.
The SMS and the call never arrive. Check that the phone has signal and can receive SMS from short or foreign numbers, then try again a few minutes later.
